Lectures held at St Andrew's are organised by the St Andrew’s Trust for the Study of Religion and Society
Join us for the exciting opening concert of the 2022 St Andrew’s on the Terrace Lunchtime Series, featuring the debut of new chamber music group TAIORO, a combination of poetry by Sharn Maree Cassady with music performed by Donald Maurice (viola) and Inbal Megiddo (cello). Compositions are by New Zealand composers Anthony Ritchie, Alfred Hill and Douglas Lilburn, as well as the premiere of David Hamilton’s “Avec Amour”, set to a poem by Sherry Grant.
TAIORO is an ensemble established in 2021 to create and perform a niche repertoire combining poetry and music by Aotearoa New Zealand authors and composers. This collaboration of spoken word poet, violist, cellist and pianist embraces our diverse backgrounds and the whenua which we call home.
Taioro – the dynamics of sound, one of the main elements of music, namely the heaviness or lightness of the sound.
Tai – the tide. Representing the ebbs and flows of tangaroa and the energy that we hold.
Oro – to resound or resonate. Also the kupu used for a musical note.
*Seating is limited to 100 persons. Mask and vaccine pass requirements apply as per government requirements. Be early to avoid disappointment.
