Samuel Woosol Jeon (b. 2003) is a Christchurch-born pianist currently studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under Dr. Natalia Ricci. He began piano at five with his aunt, later training with Michael Endres, earning dip ABRSM, LRSM, and FTCL diplomas. He won the 2018 Ruby Hay Pianoforte Scholarship, reached the NZCT Chamber Music Contest finals multiple times, and won in 2021. In 2024, he won the University of Sydney Concerto Competition, earning a performance with the Sydney Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra. Samuel has participated in masterclasses with esteemed pianists and was a Sydney Eisteddfod semi-finalist. Supported by the Henderson’s Traveller’s Scholarship and Dr. Jack Richards, he attended the Disentis Summer Academy and Blonay Summer Music Festival in Switzerland, studying with renowned artists Sergei Edelmann, Konstantin Scherbakov, and Edith Fischer. His continued success highlights his dedication and growing presence in the international classical music scene.
