PROCESSIONAL HYMN WOV 77 ‘For the beauty of the earth’
Text: Folliott S. Pierpoint, 1835–1917 (alt)
Tune: Lucerna Laudoniae. Conrad Kocher. TIS137
1. For the beauty of the earth,
for the beauty of the skies,
for the love which from our birth
over and around us lies,
Christ our God, to thee we raise
this our sacrifice of praise.
2. For the beauty of each hour
of the day and of the night,
hill and vale, and tree and flower,
sun and moon, and stars of light,
Christ our God, to thee we raise
this our sacrifice of praise.
3. For the joy of ear and eye,
for the heart and mind’s delight,
for the mystic harmony
linking sense to sound and sight.
Christ our God, to thee we raise
this our sacrifice of praise.
4. For the joy of human love,
brother, sister, parent, child,
friends on earth, and friends above,
for all gentle thoughts and mild,
Christ our God, to thee we raise
this our sacrifice of praise.
WELCOME
Naumai haeremai, tena koutou katoa.
Kia ora.
PRAYER concluding… [said together]
And now, teach us to live our own lives gently and kindly
with each other, looking at ourselves and our world through
your eyes of respect and hope and light. AMEN

SILENCE
OFFERING & OFFERING PRAYER
We recognise and bless the gifts brought to the table, and those which wing
their way electronically from our banks to the church’s account.
LIFE IN THE COMMUNITY OF ST ANDREW’S
People share notices and visitors are welcomed. If you have a notice not already in the order of service, please move to the front row, ready to speak briefly from the lectern.
For the benefit of newcomers, please introduce yourself before you begin.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Fiona McDougal
CIRCLE OF PRAYER
We think today of the people of Burkina Faso and the Association of Evangelical Reformed Churches of Burkina Faso. We remember the detainees of Manus and Nauru Islands, yearning that their cases be resolved. In New Zealand, we remember those who work this election season; candidates, members of political parties and voters. Here in the Central Presbytery, we pray for the leaders and people of Kapiti Uniting Parish.
PRAYER FOR ST ANDREW’S
Renew your people, God,
and renew our life in this place.
Give us a new spirit of unity
with all who follow the Way of Jesus
and new bonds of love
with people of other faiths.
Bless the city in which we live
that it may be a place
where honest dealing,
good government,
the desire for beauty,
and the care for others flourish.
Bless this church
that what we know of your will
may become what we do,
and what we believe
the strong impulse
of our worship and work.
Amen
HYMN AA 100 ‘Now to your table spread’
Words: Shirley Murray © 1987 Hope Publishing Company, 380 S Main Pl, Carol Stream, IL 60188
Tune: Love Unknown
1. Now to your table spread we come, each one, in faith
that you alone provide the words of life or death:
in wine and bread, in promised food
we find your loving heart, O God.
2. Hands of the world stretch out, your mystery to touch
in longing to believe a truth beyond our reach,
to sing in joy, to cry in grief,
to know your meaning for our life.
3. Here is our common wealth in sharing what is good,
as though all humankind around one table stood,
this bread to break, this wine to taste –
one people in the name of Christ.
THE COMMUNION
The gifts of God for the people of God
Come for all is ready
INVITATION
Do you wish to understand and follow the Way of Jesus?
Naumai, haeremai unqualified welcome to this Table.
PRAYER
To you God,
our hearts are fully open
our hopes are all known
from you we hide no secrets
Clear our thinking
that we may love you better
and honour your Way more
in Jesus’ name. Amen
WE GIVE THANKS
The Lord be with you
and also with you
Lift up your hearts.
we lift them to God
We give thanks to God.
it is right to do so
Yes, it is so right to give you thanks and praise
You said: “Let there be Light!” and there is light. Your light shines on in our darkness.
You have offered us Jesus the one we call Light of the World.
Now we thank you for your faithful followers of every age who have followed your way.
We remember those in our community
who have gone before us and are now dead
Those who surround us now
Those who will come after us
We salute our Tipuna and we thank you
for the Communion of Saints
So now, with people of all faiths we say:
Let there be:
Respect for the earth
Peace for its people
Love in our lives
Delight in the good
Forgiveness for past wrongs
And from now on
A new start.
Amen
We remember that night so long ago.
Jesus hosted a meal with his friends.
Through grain and grape, bread and wine,
and in fellowship with his friends,
Jesus spoke of his love for each of them.
That story becomes our story as we continue to celebrate love and hope in our community of faith.
So we BREAK THIS BREAD to be shared by us all and we LIFT UP THIS CUP as a cup of blessing to be drunk by us all.
God of Love and Hope
Bless us
God of Love and Hope
Bless us
God of Love
Grant us peace
Because there is one loaf
We who are many and different
are one body, one community of faith
This is the Bread of Life
to nourish and strengthen us on our journey
as followers of the Way of Jesus
This Cup of Blessing for which we give thanks,
is for refreshment and sustenance
We will salute Jesus
The Author and Pioneer of our Faith
PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION:
We give thanks, God
that we have gathered together in this sacred place,
that we have been refreshed at this table.
We have shared bread and wine today
We will follow in Jesus’ footsteps
Bless this occasion for us all
AMEN
HYMN: FFS 14 ‘Faith has set us on a journey’
Tune: Austria WOV 374(1) Words: Shirley Murray © 3 verses
1. Faith has set us on a journey
past the landmarks that we know,
taking risks with no insurance
but the Word that tells us "go!"
Friend or job or home or lover
we may need to leave behind,
outworn truths and ways of thinking,
baggage to the past consigned.
2. Some are swags of easy conscience
who with others hitch a ride,
some are tourist-package Christians,
dollar-safe, with Book and guide.
There are others on this journey --
those who long and pray and search,
heave the stones to free the structures,
love the Christ and leave the Church.
3. We are this unlikely people
in the Body knit as one,
company of clowns and cripples -
some are wise and some can run.
Prophets are our travel agents,
gospel-makers lay this road:
to the place of peace and promise
faith will take us into God.
THE BLESSING
We go now into God’s world, with love
And we are sure the God of Listening and
Hospitality is already there!
e aroha me tumanako me te rangimarie tatou tatou e
May love, hopefulness and peace be with us all
SUNG AMEN
