E NEWS 28TH MARCH 2025

Talofa lava. I shouldn’t be saying this out loud but this E News is coming from my foster brother’s Family Service Thursday night at Ranui Pacific Islanders Presbyterian Church in Auckland.  Having buried my dear uncle yesterday we will be burying our dear foster brother Friday.   So this is the only time I have to write this weeks enews. I should have deligated but have been too busy.

As I was driving my sisters car home last night from the airport as she was slightly pickled from koru lounge complimentary wine.  In my tiredness I didn’t notice the bike lane concrete bumps on my left and I accidentally drove over one and immediately popped the tyre which went flat, so pulled over into a business carpark to ring the AA. My second AA callout in one day.  My AA card was in my car in Wellington as that car had a flat battery and I was supposed to be on my way with a friend to drop me off at airport.  So she stayed withe car to wait for the AA whilst my brother came back to pick me up. The four of us in our extreme exhaustion we all toddled up to the koru lounge early to just rest, relax, have dinner and debrief over a glass or 2 or 3 of wine.  Mine was a lemon, lime and bitters.  Hence me driving after we landed.  The AA needed to know if there was a spare tyre before they would come out.  Lesson learnt from this by my sister: know your car of 15 years where the spare is kept. (Under the car) where the tool box is kept, where the jack is and know if the spare is not also flat. She knew nothing. Thank goodness for the AA.  So, anyway feeling bad I bought her a brand new tyre today on top of everything else.  When it rains it pours.

I’m flying back to Wellington tomorrow Saturday morning and going straight to South Cluster group at Jenny and Paul’s.  This Sunday thanks to the worship committee, Ellen has organised the Order of Service and Ross will share the reflection.  After coffee will be the workshop on Enduring Power of Attorney led by Dr Ben Grey and Pastoral Care Committee will meet afterwards, after which I shall go home and flop on my bed in utter exhaustion.  I’m really looking forward to my upcoming Sabbatical beginning 1st May.  I so much need it.

Next Sunday’s Communion service will be led by our Central Moderator Rev Leanne Munro.

There is still room for more volunteers for readings and prayers for stations of the cross for Good Friday.  Let me know if you are interested and I will let you know what stations are left.

For Maundy Thursday Passover Feast we have offers of 1 leg of lamb need 2?  Charoset.  Need greens and bitter herbs, unleavened bread, wine, grape juice, grapes, napkins.

Gotta go now, see you Saturday or Sunday.  Ka kite ano.  Fei.
