E NEWS 20 OCTOBER 2023

Kia ora koutou

I popped into the office at lunchtime (today, Friday) and Christine asked who was writing the musings for the e-news this week.  “Ooooh,” I thought, “I have a vague memory of having agreed to do that.  Ooops!”  We have just come back from a few days in the Wairarapa with our visitor from England, staying with friends – a few days out of routine and it becomes so easy to drop a stitch or two.

It’s great having a visitor.  We find ourselves doing Wellington things we wouldn’t normally get around to doing – I’ve often missed events because I always thought there was plenty of time to make a booking.  Having other people around is a lovely way to make you lift up your head from the day-to-day and appreciate how lucky we are to live in this wonderful city with all it has to offer.

The election came and went – final numbers are still a bit up in the air until the special votes are counted, but there will certainly be a change of government, with an orderly transition, although public servants whose jobs are now uncertain might beg to differ about the latter.  It remains to be seen what impact this will have on us all over the next few years. Frances Porter’s banner might get an outing or two.

The theme for this week’s service is balance, in the interests of which – after a few very busy months – I’ll be sitting in the sun listening to music this Sunday and keeping Fei in mind as she takes a much-needed rest.  See you next week.

Sue
