Sunday is the third Sunday in Advent – we are getting closer to Christmas! This week we have a service of readings and carols. Traditionally there is a service of none lessons and carols – we will be having ten readings – all done by members of the congregation. There will be plenty of opportunity to sing some traditional and some NZ carols. The St Andrew’s Singers have been practicing hard and will sing a couple of items. So all in all we are in for a good relaxing time on Sunday morning!
Each year we support the work of Christian World Service (CWS) through their Christmas Appeal. They are the official agency that PCANZ work through. Their overheads are low and the money is used in developmental aid to make a difference in the lives of small communities by assisting people to become self sufficient. The Christmas Appeal envelopes will be available on Sunday. You are invited to return them on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day – or any time in January. You can receive a tax rebate on donations over $5. Life has not been easy for many in New Zealand this last year – but it has been even more difficult for many already living in poverty overseas. Please consider making a generous donation to Christian World Service this year.
As we move closer to Christmas the pressure seems to go on and stress levels increase. Take time each day to be kind to yourself and those around you.
See you Sunday
Shalom
Jim
