During the last few weeks we have been discussing the rationale for a vaccine mandate. We want to protect all of our community, especially those who are immune-suppressed or vulnerable.
Parish Council met last evening and agreed that St Andrew’s on The Terrace will become a Vaccine Pass Venue from today’s date. At Traffic Light Orange this means that there will be no restrictions on numbers for gatherings and we can serve food and drink without restriction. It means we will be able to host our Minister candidate without any restrictions. A gathering means Sunday worship and any church-related gatherings whether in a home or on our premises. An event in our context is a concert or business meeting or meeting of any client group or class. Posters will be displayed accordingly – this is a Ministry of Health requirement. All of our employees are vaccinated, which is also a requirement for a Vaccine Pass venue. Mask wearing is encouraged and we will keep the 1 metre spacing between rows of seats for the time being although this is not strictly required.
Until we can put in place a system where we use the electronic verifier to scan vaccine passes we will be asking to sight your vaccine pass at the door for gatherings. We will not ask for additional ID but we would like you to scan using the COVID-19 Tracer code that is currently displayed. If you have not yet managed to obtain a vaccine pass by either downloading it and printing or uploading it on to your phone, you can go to a vaccinating pharmacy and they will print it for you.
If you are not vaccinated you will not be able to attend events and gatherings. Please get in touch with Jim or Lynne if you have questions and concerns.
Parish Council also recorded our deep gratitude to Jim Cunningham for his service to our community over the last year in particular. Jim has been conducting ministry at St Andrew’s on The Terrace, with gaps, since 2008. He says he is really retiring this time!
Jim is leading the service on Sunday. His theme is ‘How Far is it to Bethlehem?”
We will explore the two Christmas stories – in Matthew and Luke – and see what we can find!
See you Sunday
