Lectures held at St Andrew's are organised by the St Andrew’s Trust for the Study of Religion and Society
Join us for this very special concert with Martin Griffiths (cello), Celia Griffiths (violin) and Kathryn Mosley (piano) – A Katherine Mansfield Anniversary Celebration. The concert features music by Arnold Trowell, a close friend of Katherine Mansfield, and includes his Sonata in F, Op. 30, for cello and piano. The cello, which Mansfield first learned in Wellington, was her favourite instrument.
With the one hundredth anniversary of Mansfield’s death last year, there has been a sustained interest in her contribution to literature, which includes several uniquely musical short stories. A cyclic, single-movement trio in “chapters” – Ancient Irish Folk Songs – is a musically analogous example of Mansfield’s writing style and concludes this programme.
