Lectures held at St Andrew's are organised by the St Andrew’s Trust for the Study of Religion and Society
Stringendo was formed in 2015 and consists of string players aged from 9-14 from the Wellington region, conducted by Donald Maurice. Its primary focus is music from the Baroque period, to equip the players with an understanding of the playing style of the time, to develop sight-reading skills, and to prepare them for roles in full symphony orchestras. Many past members have gone on to join Wellington Sinfonietta, Wellington Youth Orchestra, the National Secondary Schools Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra. Some of the original members are now studying performance at university. Keeping going during Covid-19 alert levels has been challenging but in 2021 Stringendo participated in the Strings for Africa concert with piano soloist Diedre Irons. The concert on December 1 will be their only other performance in 2021. Audience limited by alert level.
Programme: 1 December Stringendo
