Hello everyone,
Wow, what a week it has been on the political front. Lots of drama in the beehive down the road, trying to keep track of who is in and who is out (shake it all about ‘smile’ ). Not to mention the International political posturing. But for regular people going about their lives what is really important day to day? The election will come and go and the players on the stage may change, but what change matters to the people of Aotearoa?
On Monday 10 July, over 100 people gathered in St Andrew’s on The Terrace to hear a panel of candidates, members of parliament and community workers speak on Wellington’s housing issues. The evening was a great opportunity to have some real debate and hear a wide range of opinions and solution ideas.
The second forum in our pre-election series will be held this coming Tuesday 15 August. And I encourage you to attend if you are able.
The topic will be: How do we ensure every family and individual in New Zealand has a fair income so they can participate well in society?
The Panel is chaired by Lyndy McIntyre of Living Wage. Panelists include Paul Barber, NZ Council of Christian Social Services, Max Rashbrooke, Journalist and author and Regina Tito-Campbell DCM Outreach Worker. Come to hear comment, contribute your ideas and ask your questions.
On Sunday our service will be led by Rev Jim Cunningham. His reflection title is ‘Don’t go under’ sounds like good advice to me.
Wishing you all a good end to the week. Go well.
