Special Needs Grants for Food

You are entitled to a Special Needs Grants for food if:
- you have an immediate need to buy food and
- you have no other resources to buy food and
- you would otherwise have to rely on a food-bank and
- your need for food was caused by an essential expense (your will need to produce receipts to prove this or be able to verify expenses some other way)
Special Needs Grants are given up to a given limit per year. This varies depending on circumstances. Ring the call centre and ask how much entitlement you have (0800-559-009).
Special needs grants are also available for other Essential Needs, Emergency Needs and for people in specified difficult circumstances.
